On December 22nd (Saturday), the final day of Ai Iwane Solo Exhibition KIPUKA—Island in My Mind at KANA KAWANISHI PHOTOGRAPHY, its closing talk will be held from 6:30pm with Iwane and Shuko Ebihara (interpreter, founder of non-profit art organization kuriya).

 

*Please note that the talk will be held in Japanese only.

KANA KAWANISHI PHOTOGRAPHY（西麻布）にて開催の岩根愛個展『KIPUKA—Island in My Mind』のクロージングイベントとして、本展最終日12月22日（土）に一般社団法人kuriya代表・海老原周子さんをお招きし、トークイベント第三弾を行います。

​

アートプロジェクト「Betweens Passport Initiative」を展開しながら、移民の若者と日本社会との接続に本気で取り組んでいる海老原周子氏と12年間もの長い年月に渡り、義務感に駆られるかのようにハワイと福島の郷土文化の交差を丹念につきとめ、つなぎ、そだて、広げることで、作品として結実させた岩根愛。

　

決してアートのために「地域を利用」するのではなく、徹底的に文化や人のつながりを生み出すこと、つまりコミュニティーのために「アートを活用」してきた二人が、本音で互いに語らい合います。「国際芸術祭」が日本全国各地でいくつも開催され、世界中で莫大な移民が増加しつつづけ、2020に向けてやおら声高に「社会包摂 (social inclusion)」が叫ばれるなど、ますます混沌さを深めているいまだからこそ、改めて腹を据えて、「コミュニティーとアートとの健全な相互関係」について考えます。

Yoshiki Hase has been selected as one of the winners of this year’s LensCulture Emerging Talent Awards for the series ENA we showcased at KANA KAWANISHI PHOTOGRAPHY this year. LensCulture is an online platform based in the Netherlands, which specializes in contemporary photography and has been one of the most authoritative resources in the field. Every year, the LensCulture selects 50 international emerging photographers with juries including Simon Bainbridge (Editor in Chief, British Journal of Photography), Roy Kahmann (Founder of Kahman Gallery) and Alexa Becker (Acquisitions Editor of Kehrer Verlag).

Akira Fujimoto will participate in DESIGNART TOKYO 2018, design & art festival which takes place from October 19th (Fri) through 28th (Sun) in Roppongi, Shibuya, Ebisu and other surrounding areas collaborating with artists, designers and product/fashion brands.

Fujimoto will showcase 2021#Tokyo Scope, a collaborative installation work with Yuko Nagayama (architect) as "DESIGNART Feature," one of the highlighted programs of the festival. The festival will open October 19th (Fri) and last until October 28th (Sun).

Akira Fujimoto is currently participating in the exhibition “GENBAKU as future seed,” part of the project "ZERO PROJECT 2018" organized by 1Future Presents in Hiroshima, Japan. Fujimoto showcases his large-scale installation work "幻爆 (Genbaku)" in this exhibition. The exhibition will last until this Sunday, October 14th. KANA KAWANISHI GALLERY is pleased to announce that five works from Hideo Anze's photographic series, Stripe (50Hz) have been acquired by the British Museum as a part of its permanent collection. This is the first time for Anze's work to be acquired by a museum outside of Japan, and we are highly privileged that the works have become a part of a historical archive.

この度、安瀬英雄の《Stripe (50Hz)》シリーズより5点の作品が、大英博物館（イギリス）のパーマネントコレクションとして収蔵されることが決定いたしました。安瀬作品が美術館／博物館に収蔵されるのは、国内外で今回が初めてとなります。
